Elga Grinwalde – Solo exhibition in Hamburg, November 2024

The opening of the solo exhibition “The Power of Nothingness” at the Pashmin Art Gallery in Hamburg was an impressive event. The audience was visibly thrilled by the abstract works of Latvian artist Elga Grinvalde, whose finely nuanced depictions of light and shadow created a fascinating emptiness and at the same time an unfathomable beauty. A spontaneous moment during the vernissage was particularly touching: an artist in the audience seized the opportunity and spontaneously sang a song for Elga Grinvalde and the audience, which deepened the connection between the visitors and the artist.

The audience particularly appreciated the modest and purist nature of the artist, who exuded a profound stillness and at the same time a strong emotional presence in her works. The event, moderated by Jasmin Eikmeier and curated by Natalja Nouri, offered a thought-provoking setting. Dr. Davood Khazaie, international curator of Pashmin art, explained the artist’s works from a subtle curatorial perspective. He highlighted the subtle balance between light and shadow in Elga Grinvalde’s works and explored the deeper meaning of her art. The audience also felt encouraged to ask questions to the artist, which led to a harmonious dialog and a lively atmosphere.

The exhibition will be on display until December 6, 2024.
