Artist Profile

Elga Grinvalde, born in Latvia in 1966, has a distinguished career spanning over two decades. After studying at the Riga College of Applied Arts and the Latvian Academy of Art, she earned her Master of Arts in Painting and became a member of the Artists’ Union of Latvia in 2003. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including in Finland, Germany, and at the prestigious International Mark Rothko Memorial Exhibition in Latvia. Grinvalde’s artistry is characterized by her search for the invisible lines between light and dark, capturing the subtle transitions of nightfall, fog, and twilight.

In The Power of Nothingness, Grinvalde shares her reflection on boundaries, stating, “There are no boundaries, they only exist insofar as we perceive them!” Her work delves into the elusive line between light and shadow, challenging the viewer to reconsider their perception of emptiness and the powerful beauty that lies within.

The gallery invites art enthusiasts, critics and the public to engage with these powerful works from November 23 to December 6, 2024.
