“Layers of Existence: Nature, Time, Form and the Inner World” invites viewers to explore the deep connections between the natural world, the human experience and the subconscious. This exhibition brings together the work of five contemporary artists, each offering a unique perspective on existence through their different styles and mediums.
The Artists
Mikael Jensen’s paintings, deeply influenced by Carl Jung’s psychological theories, delve into the psyche and explore the inner workings of the human mind through archetypal imagery. His work invites viewers on a journey of self-reflection, uncovering the universal symbols that shape our understanding of identity and existence.
Kerstin Waitschull’s abstract compositions explore rhythm, movement, and texture through vibrant patterns and intricate details. Her use of color and form creates dynamic, ever-evolving visual experiences that draw viewers into an ongoing conversation between the material and the ephemeral.
Jennifer Fincher’s serene landscapes evoke a deep sense of tranquility, capturing nature in its most intimate and calming form. Her paintings invite reflection on the passage of time and the subtle beauty of the natural world.
Jürgen Heinrich Block’s Anlitz des Alters (Faces of Old Age) series poignantly examines the passage of time through the faces of aging. His works delve into the emotional depth of human experience, highlighting the vulnerability and wisdom that come with age.
Mark Müller’s geometric works provide a sense of order and structure, offering a stark contrast to the fluidity of nature. Through his use of cubes and spatial relationships, Müller constructs intricate visual worlds that play with perception and invite contemplation of form and space.
Together, these five artists create a layered exploration of nature, time, structure, and the inner world. Layers of Existence reflects the intricate web of connections that define our experience of life, offering a rich, multidimensional perspective on the human condition.
The exhibition is curated by Natalja Nouri, with Dr. Davood Khazaie, the international curator of Pashmin Art, delivering a lecture reviewing the artists’ works. The Pashmin Art Gallery invites art lovers, critics and the general public to engage intensively with these multi-layered works from January 25 – February 21, 2025.
