Alexander Krivosheiw was born in New York in 1976. He holds a B.A. with Honors in sculpture from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. His interest in art was informed through earlier studies including Greek mythology, archaeology, and social anthropology, undertaken in Crete, Greece.
While enrolled at the School of Visual Arts, Krivosheiw embarked upon an intensive seven-year apprenticeship with sculptor Kevin Barrett, where he developed and honed his welding and fabrication skills for large-form sculpture. Works fabricated under Barrett’s tutelage included bronze and aluminum sculptures reaching heights of 18 feet, many of which now reside in private collections worldwide. Krivosheiw also fabricated numerous wall reliefs fabricated for the painter Tom Wesselmann, which are counted in the permanent collections of top-tier museums both internationally and abroad.
