HAMBURG: A HOMMAGE 2016

On 10 September 2016, Pashmin Art Gallery Hamburg opened a vernissage on the theme: “Hamburg: A Homage”.

Her reference to Hamburg and the landscape surrounding the city, from the Elbe to the North Sea coast, is unmistakable. The motifs of landscape painting have been joined by modern industrial and port facilities and the traffic on the roads and rivers, in keeping with technical change.

The image of the landscape has changed. But in contrast to the older generation of artists, whose attention was not least directed at the harmful consequences of industrial overexploitation for nature and the environment, their younger colleagues mostly refrain from making such critical accents. Their image of Hamburg has brightened up again.
